CONCORD, N.C. — Police are investigating a fatal crash after a car lost control and rolled over on Interstate 85 in Concord early Sunday morning.
The crash happened just after 3:30 a.m. on the Interstate 85 southbound exit ramp to Davidson Highway.
Police said a 2014 Nissan Altima lost control, struck a guard rail and a concrete median, causing the Altima to roll over.
Officials said the driver, 27-year-old Deterrius Lamont Johnon from Orlando, Fla., was taken to Atrium Health Northeast, but he later died from his injuries.
The passenger was also transported to the hospital, but is expected to make a full recovery.
Speed was a factor in the crash, but police said they do not suspect alcohol or drugs contributed to it.
