Man arrested Sunday night in connection with stolen vehicle

IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A man was arrested Sunday night and charged with stealing a car, according to a news release from the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were assisting the N.C. Highway Patrol with a found property call. Deputies saw a car leaving from businesses on Mocksville Highway. Deputies stopped the vehicle near Salem Road.

Deputies said they found Billy Ray Locklear, 61, of Greensboro, driving the car. Deputies learned the vehicle was reported stolen from Randolph County.

Deputies arrested Locklear on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, displaying a fictitious license plate and driving while license revoked.

Locklear was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was placed on a $5,000 secured bond.
