Coroner identifies man found dead in house fire ruled to be arson

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — Deputies are investigating a house fire they say was arson that left a man dead over the weekend in York County.

According to investigators, firefighters putting out the blaze at the house on Rock Grove Avenue in Rock Hill found 63-year-old Jerome Heath dead inside on Saturday.

Officials said Heath did not live at the home and that the homeowners were out of town when the fire was set.

The investigation is ongoing and nobody has been charged.

Autopsy and toxicology results are pending, according to the coroner’s office.
