County manager, wife robbed in NoDa

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mecklenburg County Manager Harry Jones and his wife were robbed at gunpoint on Friday night.

The robbery happened on North Davidson Street in the NoDa neighborhood as they were trying to go to a play.

Jones and his wife were headed to the theater CAST, but as they got out of their car, a man came up with a gun and grabbed Jones’ wife's purse and took Jones' wallet.

Eyewitness News was told the couple is OK.

Police don't have a good description of the suspect. But they do have a few leads and there was an active search to find the suspect on Friday night.

Eyewitness News anchor Erica Bryant spoke to Jones on the phone about the incident.  He said the robber told him, “I don't want to kill you, just give me everything you got.”

Jones said it was hard to get a good look at the robber's face because he was just focused on the gun.
