GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — The percentage of African Americans in Gaston County who have contracted COVID-19 is declining, officials said.
“It was just devastating,” said Chris Thomason.

His sister died from the virus in April.
The effort to try and stop the spread of the coronavirus involved working with churches and provided more tests and masks.
