Crash that took out power pole also leaves pedestrian with broken leg

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a crash that knocked down a utility pole Monday night and left a pedestrian with a broken leg.

The collision happened just before 7 p.m. on West Sugar Creek Road at North Tryon Street, blocking the street for several hours.

It was raining heavily at the time, but police have not yet said if weather played a role in the accident.

There was no word if the driver is facing any charges.
