CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — In the Foothills, flooding from Thursday’s heavy rainfall washed out roads and trapped people in their cars.
At the Oxford Dam, millions of gallons of water flowed out of Lake Hickory and into Lake Lookout. Neighbors said they got a call from Catawba County Emergency Management around 5:30 a.m. that Lake Lookout would quickly rise.
