Crime concerns arise with new airport valet company

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There are still major concerns about crime with Charlotte-Douglas Airport's valet parking even after a new company took over.

Eyewitness News obtained a police report that said a man called Charlotte-Mecklenburg police Tuesday and reported his gun had been stolen from his vehicle while he was parked in the valet deck.

Detectives wouldn't say who stole the gun but they did confirm that it was in the deck run by the new parking company Ameri-Park.

Channel 9 has talked to Ameri-Park several times in the past and they said they would make valet parking safer, but they would not give a comment Wednesday night.

Employees at the previous valet service Park Inc. have been accused of taking customer cars on joy rides, stealing gift cards from inside cars and guns.

The airport ended its contract with Park Inc. and brought on Ameri-Park in June.
