MOORESVILLE, NC — Residents in a Mooresville neighborhood are upset with the district attorney's decision to not press charges after bullets hit three homes last month.
Deputies said the gunshots may have originated from private property on Johnson Dairy Road in the Curtis Pond neighborhood and traveled several blocks, hitting three homes.
“Nobody really knew where the gunshots had come from at first,” said Curtis Pond resident Stephen Griffith.
Neighbors like Griffith were stunned when bullets hit the homes.

The gunfire left behind broken windows and gaping holes.
“I don’t think they should be shooting near a residential area anyway,” said Griffith.
Homeowner Richard Anderson sent Channel 9 photos of the damage, showing where a bullet hit the wall inside his home.
Although scary, District Attorney Sarah Kirkman said her office will not file charges against the person responsible simply because it was accidental.
In a statement to Channel 9, Kirkman said, “No one intentionally shot into property knowing it was occupied.”
No one was hurt by the gunfire.
Regardless of intention, Griffith doesn’t agree with the DA’s decision.
“I think there should be some accountability, whether it was accidental or not there just needs to be more safety involved,” Griffith said.
Both the sheriff’s office and police department are investigating.
