Data could hone in on cause of blood clots possibly linked to COVID-19 vaccines

CHARLOTTE — The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is still on pause as officials investigate after six people got severe blood clots.

So far, there have been about 7 million people who have got the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Keith Lunday and his husband have been enrolled in a Johnson & Johnson trial for months and, like many, have heard news of the recent pause.

“I’ve seen the headlines,” Lunday told Channel 9. “I read a little bit, and I saw the risk, and they were extremely low. Way lower than any risk associated with COVID-19. I’m sure I’ve taken plenty of medications that have higher risks of other things that I don’t even know about.”

In the video at the top of this webpage, hear from an infectious disease specialist about important data that should help in finding out more about those six cases of blood clots.
