Deputy kicked several times while arresting pair at Lincoln County home

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies said a detective with the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office was assaulted while serving felony arrest warrants at a home in Vale Friday.

Authorities were attempting to arrest 35-year-old Mikki Wylie and 43-year-old Larry Stanley at a home on Doyle Beam Memorial Road.

While the deputy was walking Wylie to a patrol car, deputies said she pulled away from the officer and kicked him multiple times in the chest and legs.

Officials said Stanley was found hiding behind a bed inside the home and was arrested without incident.

Both suspects were wanted for various drug violations that stemmed from a search of their home on Guy Heavner Road in Lincolnton Wednesday. Stanley, who is a felon, was served an additional warrant for having a gun.

The pair has been charged with one felony count each of possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances and one misdemeanor count each of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wylie has also been charged with one misdemeanor count each of assault on a government official and resisting a public officer for the reported assault during her arrest.

Both are scheduled to appear in court Monday.

This is an ongoing investigation and deputies said additional charges may be coming.
