CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Doctors want everyone to know the warning signs of heat stroke as the area experiences a heat wave.
There has not been a spike in visits for heat-related problems at the emergency room at Atrium Health.
The very young and very old are at the biggest risk for heat-related issues, along with anyone who exercises or does work outside.
“If you are feeling ill, particularly if you’re feeling dizzy, nauseous -- you start having muscle cramps -- those are early signs,” Dr. Christopher Griggs said. “Late signs are you are confused, you’re not making sense.”
The best thing to do is stay indoors, stay hydrated and check on your elderly neighbors, especially during a power outage.
