For instance, there was the Cornelius mansion along the shores of Lake Norman that traded hands for $4 million in February. That European-style property on Connor Quay Court came to fame after its appearance in “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” — as the residence of Will Ferrell’s character, Ricky Bobby, in the NASCAR spoof.

Next, we have the the south Charlotte abode of the Houston Texans’ Johnathan Joseph. The Charlotte-area native and wife Delaina sold the 15,454-square-foot gated estate on Winged Bourne for $3.25 million via auction in April.

And here’s just one more example. Less than a half-mile away from the Josephs’ home, Charlotte Checkers owner Michael Kahn and wife Wendy sold their south Charlotte mansion for nearly $3.3 million in June.

But it was another Mecklenburg County home that has sold with the highest price tag between January and August of this year. Also located in south Charlotte, a nearly 11,000-square-foot home with six bedrooms and seven-and-a-half bathrooms that overlooks the Quail Hollow golf course sold for $5.3 million back in late January.

Take a look at these and more of the 20 most-expensive home sales in Mecklenburg County through the first eight months of 2018 here.
