Experts warn of ice on trees, falling limbs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Watch out for ice forming on tree limbs and causing problems.

Long-time Charlotte arborist Patrick George with Heartwood Tree Service told Action 9's Jason Stoogenke there's not much prevention you can do if you haven't already done it.

Still, he urges people to use common sense: Stay away from big trees and heavy limbs.

He said you won't find his team out in this situation even though they're tree experts.

"In our industry, we say a safe tree is one that's on the ground.  If it's standing, it's going to come down at some point," he said.

When this weather passes, make sure you tend to your trees to reduce the risk for the next storm.
