Family frightened, displaced after someone shot into their north Charlotte home

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A family of six is scrambling to find a place to stay after they say someone shot into their home overnight.

Azalia Mendez told Channel 9 that she and other family members were asleep inside the house on Vancouver Drive in Charlotte’s Hidden Valley neighborhood when someone fired more than half a dozen rounds at the home.

One bullet grazed her 15-year-old brother’s foot when it came through the window.

“We’re just a bit overwhelmed and stressed about what to do,” she said.

>> In the video at the top of this page, Mendez takes Channel 9 reporter Anthony Kustura inside the home to show him the damage.
