RALEIGH, N.C. — The family of a Raleigh woman who died after her husband stabbed her 123 times is now talking about the ordeal.
Matthew Phelps called 911 in September 2017, saying he took cold medicine and woke up to find his wife, Lauren, stabbed to death.
Earlier this month, Phelps pleaded guilty to killing his wife.

Lauren's mother, Laurie Hugelmaier, said she'll never forget the day officers told her that her daughter was dead.
“I turned and said, ‘Did Matt kill her?’ And they asked me, ‘Why would you ask that?’ And I said, ‘I don't know, I just know,’” Hugelmaier said.
Matthew Phelps is serving life in prison.
