Family pushes for crosswalk year after man killed crossing east Charlotte street

CHARLOTTE — An east Charlotte family wants the Department of Transportation to install a crosswalk after a driver hit and killed Ramo Begic one year ago as he crossed Farm Pond Lane near Four Seasons Lane.

“I told them that I’d never stop until they put crosswalks there,” Begic’s daughter, Nada Omerspahic, told Channel 9. “My mom still lives there, and I want her to be safe.”

>> In the video at the top of this webpage, reporter Mark Becker talks to the family about their efforts to keep others from going through the same heartbreak.
