Family SUV window shot out by BB gun at Concord Mills

CONCORD, N.C. — A family's car window was recently shot out with a BB gun as they left Concord Mills.

Police are now investigating nearly 20 similar cases, and until this latest case, the other vehicles targeted were parked and unoccupied.

A father said a pellet hit the window feet from where his wife and teenage son were sitting.

The family was leaving the mall on Concord Mills Boulevard and parked at a traffic light.

"Then all of a sudden the back window just shattered, and I looked and I thought someone threw a rock or something at the car," the father said. "I got out and saw a bullet or something a hole in the glass."

The shooting spree did not stop at Concord Mills. Vehicle windows were shot out on Meadowview Avenue.

Dan Trexler's car was targeted.

"It's just awful. (You) can't park your car nowhere (and) can leave your stuff out without somebody wanting it," Trexler said.

Cars on other streets like Union Street in downtown were also vandalized.

The investigation is ongoing.
