Fares raised for Concord and Kannapolis bus riders

CONCORD, N.C. — Fares for bus riders are being raised in Concord and Kannapolis.

Concord City Council voted to increase the base fare from $1 to $1.25.

The reduced fare is going from 50 cents to 60 cents.

Channel 9's partners at the Independent Tribune also reported the city council voted to buy eight new hybrid buses and 10 bus shelters.

In the past year, ridership has grown by 40,000 passengers.
