UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Police identified the victim in Tuesday's fatal Union County wreck as Jonathan Brian Barrino, 22, of Monroe.
Barrino was driving a 2000 Honda Accord west on Monroe-Ansonville Road in Union County when he passed a garbage truck in a no-passing zone, according to troopers.
He tried to return to his lane after the pass, lost control and crossed the center line when his vehicle collided with a 2011 Ford F-150 pickup driven by 48-year-old Terry Griffin, who was not injured.
Barrino was not wearing a seat belt, according to authorities.
