Fire crews control 25-30 acre woods fire in Cabarrus County

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — More than 25 fire and emergency personnel assisted in extinguishing a large fire that spread through close to 30 acres of woods Saturday afternoon in Cabarrus County, fire officials said.

The fire started around 2:15 p.m. near Kiser Road and Hopewell Church Road in the Midland area.

Officials said a property owner was burning brush, and it got out of hand because of heavy wind.

The Forestry Commission had helicopters dousing the fire with water.

Officials with the Forestry Commission said they are going to monitor the woods overnight.

Officials said there were no injuries and no structures damaged.
