Fire erupts at popular Charlotte establishment

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A fire forced the evacuation of the North Carolina Music Factory on Friday night.

According to officials, the fire was caused by welding work being done in an unoccupoed building earlier in the afternoon.

The first triggered the facility's sprinkler system, which helped contain the fire. Heavy smoke spread to two nearby buildings, which were temporarily evacuated, officials said.

The damage was estimated at around $15,000 to $30,000.

There were no injuries reported.
