• Fire quickly extinguished at Kannapolis motel


    KANNAPOLIS, N.C. - Firefighters had to put out a small fire at a motel in Kannapolis overnight.

    Around 3 a.m., firefighters responded to the Motel 6 on Lane Street after someone called 911 saying a room at the motel was on fire.

    When firefighters arrived they saw a lot of smoke coming from the second floor of the building.

    Crews evacuated everyone from the motel and were able to extinguish the fire quickly.

    The cause is still under investigation.
