MARION, N.C. — A firefighter was hurt early Wednesday morning while trying to put out a massive warehouse fire in Marion, WLOS reported.

The fire was contained inside a warehouse known as the Clinchfield textile mill on Virginia Road.

The firefighter was on the outside of the building when a wall collapsed. They suffered minor injuries.

Crews worked to put out the fire for eight hours Wednesday.

Officials said they don't think anyone was inside when the fire broke out and that no residential areas were at risk.

"I looked out my living room window, that's when I saw the building engulfed," said nearby resident Rayburn Davis. "I saw the orange glow out there, and I really (didn't) know what to think."

The fire caused many area residences and nearby homes to lose power.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this point, and officials are working to investigate what happened.
