Gastonia firefighters cut hole in floor to rescue dog

GASTONIA — The New Hope Fire Department in Gastonia rescued a dog Sunday morning after she got stuck under a storage building.

Abby, a boxer, got stuck when taking shelter from Sunday morning's storm. Her owner, Karen Rash, said firefighters cut out the floor in the storage building to get her.

"I was so thankful for their selfless act," said Rash, who called the rescuers heroes.
