CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Nearly two dozen Charlotte firefighters put out an apartment fire and helped families run down a stairwell Friday night on Nobles Avenue in west Charlotte.

It took firefighters 20 minutes to extinguish the blaze at the apartments off of West Boulevard near Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte Fire Department officials said.
No one got hurt.
The Red Cross is helping families who were affected.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
