First looks given Monday of $55M BB&T baseball stadium

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Eyewitness News got a first look Monday inside the new $55 million uptown stadium.

The new BB&T baseball stadium, paid for by Mecklenburg County taxpayers, will be the new home for the Charlotte Knights.

Last year, the Charlotte City Council approved to spend $8.5 million in tax dollars to help build the stadium.

Crews working daily on its construction expect it to open soon.

"Time is flying. In six short months we should be having our certificate of occupancy and playing baseball by April of next year," said Dan Rajkowski, the chief operating officer.
