WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — One man has been killed and five others injured in a shooting in North Carolina.
Winston-Salem police said they received multiple calls reporting gunfire late Saturday night and found one man lying dead in the street.
Five additional gunshot victims arrived at local hospitals. Four were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, while one victim remained hospitalized Sunday morning in critical condition. Police said a sixth victim of an apparent assault related to the same incident was also treated at a local hospital.
The victim who died has been identified by police as 23-year-old Jalen Chavon Cockerham. Police said his family has been notified.
Police said no suspects were arrested immediately. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
