Five months to kickoff: Charlotte FC introduces chief fan officer

CHARLOTTE — Welcome to Charlotte, Shawn McIntosh. Hope you got your rest before you came to town.

That was the message yesterday at Graham Street Pub, where McIntosh, the newly named chief fan officer at Charlotte FC, met with reporters as part of a casual introductory media session. McIntosh most recently served as chief revenue officer with the Norfolk Admirals, a minor-league hockey team.

Now he’s joined Charlotte’s expansion Major League Soccer team — five months before the inaugural season begins.

“We’re going to wear him out,” Charlotte FC President Nick Kelly told CBJ. “He’s going to go to Charleston, to Raleigh, to everywhere. That’s the objective. We’ve got five months and he’s got to be visible; he’s got to be out there.”

Charlotte FC ranks among the top third in MLS season-ticket sales ahead of the team’s debut in 2022.
