• Flames shoot through roof in early-morning house fire


    CHARLOTTE - A fire early Saturday morning at a southwest Charlotte home displaced four people.

    Authorities said the family was not at their house on Mayflower Road when it caught fire.

    Responders on the scene said flames were shooting through the roof upon arrival.

    The American Red Cross is helping the two adults and two children.

    Firefighters said the cause of the fire appears to be accidental, but it is still under investigation.
