Gaston County police arrest suspect in Friday bank robbery

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Gaston County Police Department responded to a reported robbery Friday at the PNC Gastonia-South bank at 3707 S. New Hope Road, Gastonia.

Bank employees said a man armed with a weapon entered the bank and demanded money from the teller.

The man then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and drove away.

Officers with the Cramerton and Gastonia police departments helped search for the suspect.

The suspect, Wendell Troy Dryden, 32, was found in the Chateau Village Apartments on South New Hope Road and, after a short foot pursuit, was taken into custody.

Dryden was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and is being held in the Gaston County Jail under no bond.

Also charged in the investigation was Khaliff Lamar Culbertson, 30. Culbertson was charged with simple possession of marijuana and resist, obstruct and delay of an officer.
