The Coaster Club of Great Britain traveled more than 6,000 miles to visit Carowinds on Monday. The international group of roller coaster enthusiasts will visit 13 theme parks in 15 days in the United States and Canada.

Their trip began May 31 and will end June 16. Each amusement park stop is unannounced until the day of their visit.

Carowinds welcomed the 54-person group with exclusive ride time on the tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster in the Southeast, The Intimidator.

The roller coaster enthusiasts say their favorite rides at Carowinds are The Intimidator and the After Burn, the second tallest and fastest roller coaster at the park.

The group’s website keeps a coaster count and tallies each roller coaster the group takes a ride on.

The RCCGB took a break from riding and enjoyed a southern-style lunch with fried chicken and corn on the cob. Park officials said the group enjoyed their visit, and called many things “lovely.”

This is the club’s 26th year visiting U.S. theme parks. They last visited Carowinds in 1997.
