• 2 charged after shots fired into Monroe home where children were at play

    MONROE, N.C. - A driver in connection with shots fired into homes Friday night in Monroe has been arrested.

    Alisa Robinson was charged with accessory after the fact.

    Earlier, police charged a man accused of getting out of the car and shooting into the homes. 

    Officials told Channel 9 officers arrested Billy Barrino after the shooting on South College Street.

    John Lichtenhan said his family was in one of the homes celebrating a birthday party when the gunfire erupted.

    "All of a sudden, I see him jump out of the car his passenger goes to the driver side, and he starts shooting," witness John Lichtenhan said.

    Lichtenhan said he was in a room with his three grandchildren.

    "I ran into the house and said, 'Get down, get down, everyone's shooting,'" Lichtenhan said.

    A bullet went through a wall and into the living room where the children were playing.

    "Police said the bullet shattered and part (of it) is still in this room," witness Joey Rowell said.

    He said the gunman ran down the street while shooting over his shoulder.

    The shooter then sped away but was later arrested.

    No one was injured in the shooting.

    Residents said a similar incident happened two weeks ago.
