CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A waiting room at Carolinas Medical Center was closed Wednesday morning after a hazmat situation.

Firefighters and cleanup crews were called to the hospital around 3 a.m.

Investigators said the liquid damaged a table and floor tiles in the surgical ICU waiting room after eating through a plastic bottle.

Officials are working to identify what the substance was.
