Homebuilder buys land in South End for townhouse development

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A large public homebuilder that’s been quickly scaling up in the Charlotte market has acquired land in lower South End for its next project.

Tri Pointe Homes Inc. purchased 13.3 acres at 150 Orchard Circle, off South Tryon Street and West Peterson Drive. The property is adjacent to Interstate 77 and near entertainment venues like Queen Park Social and The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery.

The homebuilder rezoned the land in September to allow up to 94 townhouses to be developed.
