Homebuilder starts work on key piece of downtown Kannapolis revitalization

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Another key element has been added to the revitalization of downtown Kannapolis.

Tri Pointe Homes held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday for Pennant Square, a 120-unit townhome project in downtown Kannapolis. The project will be located at the former Cannon Mills Plant 4 site between South Main Street, West F Street and Dale Earnhardt Boulevard. It will take up a 9-acre portion of that site. Tri Pointe is working with Sherwood Development Group on the project.

Gray Shell, Carolinas division president for Tri Pointe, said he expects townhomes to start delivering sometime in mid-2022.
