HS football game canceled after first COVID-19 cluster identified in Caldwell County schools

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — The Caldwell County Health Department has identified its first cluster of COVID-19 cases in the school system since the beginning of the pandemic.

The health department said at least five members of the varsity football team at South Caldwell High School have tested positive for the virus.

The varsity football team will remain in quarantine through the health department’s recommended timeframe.

The school district said South Caldwell’s first varsity football game against Watauga High School next weekend has been canceled.
