Huge demand for COVID-19 vaccine stretches local health departments thin

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — It’s the third straight day that North Carolina has reported more than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases, and it comes as the efforts to get people vaccinated and control the virus ramped up this week.

Local health departments are feeling the strain because of the huge demand for COVID-19 vaccinations.

For several days, Channel 9 saw people over 75 years old waiting hours in their cars to get the first dose of the vaccine.
