Huntersville pausing some projects due to rising construction costs

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — High construction costs are forcing the town of Huntersville to prioritize some public works projects while sidelining other needed improvements.

As Huntersville continues to grow, dozens of transportation and capital growth projects are underway to accommodate the influx of new residents. But these developments are coming at a price that exceeds the outdated original estimates.

“Because of the prices we’re currently seeing, we will take funding from years out to apply to deliver the projects of this fiscal year and worry about how we’re going to reallocate those funds later,” said Kevin Fox, Huntersville’s director of public works.
