‘I've been very uneasy the last few days': Man rattled after road rage incident

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was driving home from a concert over the weekend when he said another driver deliberately hit his car twice and followed him for miles in an apparent fit of road rage.

It was in the middle of the night when Jay Koontz said he, and his friend noticed a car tailing them.

The other driver followed them and tried to run them off the road two times.

“It's terrifying just to think about, the more I think about it,” Koontz said.

It happened on their way to Charlotte from Concord.

“I look in the rear view mirror, he's still behind me,” Koontz said. “Every lane change I make, he's making it right with me.”

He said he had no idea why the other driver was doing that.

The driver sped up behind them, almost running them off the road before hitting his car.

“I'd seen road rage incidents before, but being in one, is just a whole 'nother… It's really life-changing because the only thing I said was, ‘I don't want to die today.’”

Koontz said he finally lost the other driver after they got caught up in traffic.

Police still haven't found the suspected vehicle.

“I'm just at a loss because this guy is nowhere to be seen, but I'm looking everywhere,” Koontz said.

Investigators from Charlotte and Concord are looking into the case.

No one has been charged.
