STATESVILLE, N.C. — Emergency workers in Iredell County are preparing for serious snowfall this weekend.
Crews have already started treating major roads with brine to keep it from icing over.
Watch the video above as reporter Tina Terry talks to Iredell County officials about their preparations for this weekend's winter storm.
Officials are expecting more than 10 inches of snow starting Saturday evening.
The area could get more snow than it's seen in four years.
"We're fortunate this is occurring on a weekend, so we're hoping the citizens will heed the warning
and stay home,” said Kent Greene, with Iredell County Emergency Management.
North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper is asking people to closely watch this storm and prepare now.
He says people need to prepare for cold temperatures, hazardous driving conditions and the possibility of widespread power outages.
