LANCASTER COUNTY, S.C. — The unofficial start to summer and the federal holiday honoring military members who died in service won't mean a day off for students in Lancaster County.

As downtown Lancaster prepares for Memorial Day, nearly 14,000 students won't have the day off -- and it's not because of a make-up day.
