Legion Brewing expands distribution to Gaston County, South Carolina

Legion’s craft brews can now be found on tap and on grocery store shelves in nearby Gastonia, Belmont, Lincolnton, Fort Mill and Rock Hill.

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-based Legion Brewing has expanded its distribution footprint outside the Charlotte area for the first time in the company’s seven-year history.

Legion’s craft brews can now be found on tap and on grocery store shelves in nearby Gastonia, Belmont, and Lincolnton through a distribution agreement with Standard Distributors.

The brand will cross state lines into Fort Mill and Rock Hill through a partnership with B&B Distributors.

Best known for its Juicy Jay IPA, Legion opened in 2015 and currently has three taprooms throughout Charlotte, including Plaza Midwood, South Park and West Morehead, which serves as the company’s primary production facility.

The brewery’s flagship beers that will be distributed include its signature Juicy Jay, Penguin Pils, and the Supernova line, a seasonal rotation of fruited sours.

The brewing company first launched its canning operations during the pandemic in 2020 when taprooms and restaurants were forced to shut down.

“We are excited to be able to share what we love with our North Carolina neighbors to the west and our neighbors to the south in South Carolina,” said Legion’s owner and CEO Phil Buchy in a news release.

“The Legion community is growing thanks to the support of our loyal local fans, and I look forward to introducing Legion beer to more cities throughout the Carolinas in the near future,” Buchy added.
