LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said one of its deputies is recovering from emergency surgery after a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon.
Officials said Deputy Shannon Bridges was responding to a 911 hang-up call along East NC Highway 27 in his patrol car. They said he crashed head-on with a Honda Odyssey van when he went to turn into a driveway.

The Sheriff’s Office said the surgery was successful and Bridges is recovering.
