Local chef lands gig at new restaurant coming to NoDa

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A local chef who’s worked at several notable Charlotte establishments has a new gig at a soon-to-open restaurant in the NoDa neighborhood. Starting Aug. 5, Chris Coleman will lead the food program at The Goodyear House, which is expected to open this fall in a converted, 1900s mill house, according to a news release.

Renovation and restoration work is ongoing to preserve the home’s original hardwood floors, coal-burning fireplace, oversized baseboards and 11-foot ceilings, melding those elements with modern design touches, local art installations and historic photos of the neighborhood. The 165-seat restaurant is at 3032 N. Davidson St., across from the Johnston YMCA.

Coleman most recently served as director of culinary experience for the Charlotte Marriott City Center, where he oversaw the hotel’s three separate food ventures. His background in the local restaurant scene also includes stints at McNinch House and The Asbury.
