CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Construction company Blythe Development Co. says it is owed nearly $50 million for work on the I-77 toll lanes project.
In January, Blythe and its sister company, Blythe Brothers Asphalt Co., filed mechanic’s liens against toll lanes operator and developer I-77 Mobility Partners. The Blythe companies claim they are owed $47.7 million, plus interest, by I-77 Mobility Partners and the toll lanes project’s general contractor, Sugar Creek Construction. Blythe filed three liens totaling that amount in Iredell County, court records show.
