CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Friday, a group of first responders and business owners put a group of children first who are battling life-altering illnesses.
[Hometown Heroes gifts families with shopping spree just in time for the holidays]
Hometown Heroes has supported young people and their families in Union, Cabarrus and Mecklenburg counties for years.
“(It) started 20 years ago by one retired officer with one family that needed some help,” said Jeff Cook, who is with Hometown Heroes. “We evolved now to helping 37 families right now. We are all local. We are all volunteers.”
