Local mother says children turned away from head start program due to her job

STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — A local mother told Channel 9 that her children were turned away from a head start program because of her job.

She explained that she registered her son for the head start program nearly a year ago, but said on his first day of school her son was denied access.

>> In the video at the top of this page, that mother -- who didn’t want to be identified -- told Channel 9′s DaShawn Brown that because she works in health care and might be exposed to people with COVID-19, the facility told her they just can’t look after her kids.
