Organization to hold mobile food pantry in Union County as summer break begins

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A local organization is hosting a mobile food pantry Tuesday morning as summer break begins for students -- the extra box of food will go a long way to help families.

Common Heart has fed hungry families since the start of the pandemic, and its drive-thru mobile pantries in Union County have been popular.

Some pantries would see up to 400 cars in just two hours.

Common Heart partners with Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina to provide food boxes. Your donation through our 9 Food Drive supports their efforts across the Charlotte area.

This past week, Common Heart said it needed more pantry items for kids such as snack packs including mac and cheese, peanut better and jelly, fruit cups and snack size portions of crackers.

Donations can be dropped off at Common Hearts’ main office in Indian Trail off Business Park Drive or its location in Marshville off of Marshville Boulevard.

The mobile food pantry at the Community Shelter of Union County starts at 9:30 a.m. and will run until 11:30 a.m. Officials said you do not need a referral to get food.
