Longtime midtown restaurant Mama Ricotta’s reopens after $1M renovation, expansion

CHARLOTTE — Mama Ricotta’s is back in business after a $1 million renovation and expansion. The midtown restaurant on South Kings Drive welcomed its first diners back for dinner service on Monday, after being shuttered for three weeks.

“I think people are going to really like the look, but I think it’s going to improve the service and food,” says Frank Scibelli, CEO of FS Food Group, which is behind Mama Ricotta’s.

The Italian concept has been dishing up home-style Italian for 30 years, with favorites such as penne alla vodka, lasagna and chicken Parmesan.

The 4,400-square-foot restaurant has been a fixture in midtown since 2002. The expansion adds roughly 1,700 square feet to the restaurant’s footprint, with a focus on a private dining room and an expanded kitchen.
